DCE were engaged to design and supervise the relocation of a sewer at the St Kevins junior campus to allow for future development.
Key to the construction was minimising disruption not only to the sporting fields located above the sewer, but also minimising noise/disruption to classroom activities. Safety in design and construction was paramount given the excavation depths, inherent risks in construction, but also the proximity to a fully functioning school.
An innovative and unique construction methodology was developed allow for caisson shaft construction, laser bore pipe installation, and negate the risk of subsidence following the construction. Excavations exceeded 11m in depth while allowing students to utilise the sporting fields only meters away.
DCE worked collaboratively with the client, authority and constructors to achieve an extraordinary outcome with only minimal disruption to the school.
