University Hill Wetlands

As the winner of the 2008 UDIA Victoria Award for Water Sensitive Urban Design, the University Hill Wetlands were described by the judges as representing "a great engineering feat for Dalton Consulting Engineers".

Covering over 50,000sqm and linking the natural watercourses to Plenty River, the main feature of the wetlands is a 9,000sqm lake within the residential precinct.

The detailed design included some very sophisticated inlet & outlet works with structures up to 10m in depth below water level. Many natural looking swales including rock rifles and other energy dissipated initiatives to calm water into the wetlands.

The Water Sensitive Urban Design structures that were constructed at the University Hill Wetlands combine functionality, visual amenity and social amenity.
