DCE was engaged by the Pakenham Racing Club as principal consultant for the design and construction of the new state-of-the-art fully sustainable facility for thoroughbred racing and training in addition to ancillary facilities including the longest home straight of any current racecourse in Australia.
The first stage of the development includes:
- A state of the art 2,400 metre turf track;
- Two high quality sand training tracks;
- A modern grandstand and customer facilities;
- Outstanding racing and training infrastructure;
- 110 stables;
- Parking and access roads;
- Irrgiation dam; and
- Wetlands with more than 40 megalitres of water storage
In May 2013, it was announced that in addition to the premium 2400m turf track already under construction, a 2000m synthetic all-weather track will also be installed. The installation of the Polytrack was project managed by DCE and completed in 2015.
