Volunteer Gardening Day Recap: Upton Road Program
DCE recently rolled up our sleeves (and got our hands dirty!) at the Salvation Army Youth Services Upton Road garden in St Kilda. Even our CEO, Drew Dalton, joined in the effort, showing that teamwork and community spirit start at the top.
Thanks to our amazing CSR Committee and especially Joel Barker for organising such a rewarding day, as well as the Property Industry Foundation, who we are proud to support. Together, we helped maintain a vibrant space where young people can learn, grow, and find hope for the future.
From wheelbarrowing mulch and jazzing up a worm farm to maintenance of a play area and pruning, our team embraced tasks of all kinds. The day wrapped up with a delicious lunch prepared using fresh ingredients—a true taste of the difference this program makes.
The Upton Road program provides a supportive, low-pressure environment for young people who’ve experienced homelessness, offering them skills, confidence, and connection as they work towards sustainable housing and brighter futures.
We’re honoured to support initiatives like this that align with our values and give back to the community.
