DCE were engaged to carry out the detailed design of the civil infrastructure including the tendering and project management of all the civil works. DCE's brief also included the tendering and project management of the demolition and clearing of the extensive existing improvements on the site.
The existing council drainage system was inadequate to cater for the new development with the abutting Lloyd Street regularly flooded in high rainfall events. DCE overcame this constraint by designed two drainage outfall systems, one which required the construction of approximately 200m of outfall drainage under Childers Street running parallel to existing including a 450dia High Pressure Gas Transmission Main.
A secondary drainage outfall utilised an on-site retention system which comprised of a combination of the new internal piped drainage network and a dedicated underground tank with a controlled outlet into the Lloyd Street drainage network. The system was designed using Infoworks a dynamic hydraulic modelling software package.
