Project outline

Riverwalk is a 200ha development in ‘New Werribee’, City of Wyndham, delivered by Development Victoria in partnership with Melbourne Water. DCE has served as Head Infrastructure Consultant since 2011, coordinating Landscape Architects, Surveyors, Planners, and other specialists to achieve outcomes for key stakeholders, including Wyndham City Council , Melbourne Water and Wathaurung Aboriginal Corporation.

The development includes 2,260 residential allotments, a 10,000m² Town Centre retail space, employment precinct, sports facilities, wetlands, and habitat areas. Major infrastructure works include key intersection upgrades and a 2.5km Acoustic Wall along the Princes Freeway.

A key feature is the central floodway, part of the Alfred Road Drainage Scheme, integrating WSUD principles, bio-retention systems, and Growling Grass Frog habitat. DCE developed the WSUD strategy to ensure high water quality, protect Werribee River flows, and stage delivery to meet best practices.

With DCE’s expertise, Riverwalk earned UDIA’s EnviroDevelopment certification in 2018, showcasing sustainable design and cultural heritage integration.
