Earlier this month, DCE’s Julia Baumann and Katie Prout attended the Stormwater Victoria Conference in Lorne, joining industry professionals from across Victoria to discuss the future of stormwater management and water sensitive urban design.
As Acting Vice President of Stormwater Victoria, Julia also presented on the stormwater implications of Brolga habitat protection and the practical application of Victoria’s renewable energy guidance in areas of environmental significance.
Some of the key themes that stood out throughout the conference included:
- Integrating environmental protection into infrastructure planning and delivery.
- The importance of partnering with Traditional Owners and strengthening our connection to Country.
- Innovative approaches to water sensitive urban design, including emerging technologies and data-driven decision making.
- Challenging conventional thinking around long-term stormwater infrastructure and future planning.
The conference was also a reminder that great projects are delivered by great people, and that collaboration across industry remains critical to achieving better outcomes for our communities and environment.
A big thank you to Stormwater Victoria for another engaging and thought-provoking event.
And if you’d like to talk Brolgas, wetlands, stormwater, or all three, we’d love to hear from you.
