Engaged by MAB Corporation, DCE carried out the engineering design and project management for the Steele Creek Rehabilitation and Retarding Basin at Keilor Park Drive in Tullamarine.
The Steele Creek Waterway improvement works include the re-alignment and rehabilitation of Steele Creek through Brimbank City Council’s Botanic Gardens and the construction of a Melbourne Water retarding basin in Keilor Park which had to meet the new ANCOLD requirements.
Part of the works also included twin 3.0 x 2.4m culverts under Staduim Drive with a large concrete over flow outlet structure to cater for high flows and a low flow pipe outlet for minor flows. Steele Creek is a major Melbourne Water drainage waterway and DCE completed major flood modelling work to analyse and design this waterway to convey large developed flows and controlling flows through Keilor Park Drive culverts by constructing a large retarding basin within Botanical Garden area.
The works form part of the Translink Business Park development which DCE has been involved with since its inception. Many difficult engineering constraints have been overcome by DCE in order to make Translink one of Melbourne’s premier developments.
