The site is considered an infill project with its close proximity to the Werribee town centre and the existing township. The site is bounded by the Werribee River, the Princes Fwy, and Geelong Road, as well as some existing residences, and was previously used for agricultural purposes, forming part of the buffer zone for the Western Treatment Plant.
A southern employment precinct is expected to attract major commercial tenants and provide opportunities for locals to live and work at Riverwalk. The development is also planned to include a football oval, and a pedestrian bridge over the Werribee River with hike and bike trails providing connections to the Werribee Town Centre and the Federation Trail.
